From first opening its doors in 1973, Klooftique has consistently remained a front-runner in manufacturing, beautiful, custom, heirloom furniture, using the finest, locally-sourced materials South Africa has to offer.

What began as a humble furniture restoration and retail space would eventually become one of South Africa’s premier brands and manufacturers of handcrafted sofas, chairs, daybeds, corner units and ottomans.

Originally created by Gerald and Beulah Furman, the Klooftique brand under the ownership of their son, Jarome and his wife Marianna, has become synonymous with high-quality leather and fabric furniture design and manufacture.

Jarome and Marianna Furman have long prescribed the ancient Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi.

In essence, in Japanese aesthetics, wabi sabi centers on embracing the imperfect and finding the beauty in it.

This philosophy is always top of mind at Klooftique. From sourcing leather, timber and finishes - down to the natural, handcrafted decor accessories selected for our showroom.

Still housed in the same location as the last 50 years, our showroom in the historic 87 Kloof street Heritage building has become a feature in the prominent design hub that is Kloof street, right in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa.

Each Klooftique piece, from our Klooftique Vintage range to our beloved Core pieces, is manufactured by hand at our factory in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, South Africa, using locally-sourced materials, like full grain leather and solid pine, kiaat and ash timber.
