Staying Positive in Trying Times
When the news first came of a nationwide lockdown that would be commencing from midnight on the 26th March, we – much like everyone in our beautiful country – were in a mild state of shock. Not because we didn’t expect the lockdown. But, because of the uncertainty of what this could mean for us as a small, family-owned business (a Bespoke Furniture Store in Cape Town). A question many have had to ask since.
We respect our president greatly for making this decision; it is crucial if we are to flatten the curve. The timing of it was somewhat comedic though (smiling as we write this), because to say that our year had been off to a rocky start would be a little bit of an understatement. We won’t get into the details, but once the initial shock of yet another challenge had dissipated, we did what we do so very often; laugh.
Not because we did not understand the severity of the situation or understand that what is currently happening in our world is heart-breaking, but because we understood that we needed to focus on the things we could control and try to find the comedy in the things we could not.
How do we Plan to Spend This Time?
As we’ve been spending time working from home, we’re able to enjoy the pure elation of our furry companions at being able to spend more time with them.

Our Rise and Fall bedlinen range has proven to be quite the hit with the fluffy ones and their little hairs don’t stick to the bed linen as much. This is convenient, especially if your little ones insist on crawling under the covers with you. You can shop the range here.
If you’re not following Rise and Fall yet, you can give them a follow here. The page is truly beautiful.
During this time, we realise how fortunate we are to be able to spend it with our loved ones. Many with the same privilege are possibly planning do some gardening and rearranging of their spaces. If you’re doing the same, remember that we offer full virtual consultations. These apply us to collaborate with you to curate inspiring mood boards and layout drawings.
We’re still very much on the path of getting back in touch with who we are as a small business. That’s why we have chosen to take this time to strip away the shine and block out the noise. We’re focusing on what brings us joy and our Klooftique Core. We are all but vibrating with new ideas and concepts. And we can’t wait to start creating again, once the lockdown is over. While we don’t want to say too much yet, we are looking forward to curating a new space for us to welcome our clients back to.
We’re surely not the only small business doing this. As such, we’d like to encourage all our clients to carry on supporting small businesses and help rebuild our economy.
Since we have plenty of time on our hands to do a lot of writing, we’d love to hear from you and what you’d like to read about?

Bear in mind that all the showroom stock is currently 20% off (catalogue available upon request). In addition, any new orders placed during lockdown will automatically qualify for a 15% discount.
From Emily and Oliver (the dapper Vizslas), Coco and Gigi (the cheeky rescues), Sally and Jasper (the lazy Tuxedo cats) and the Klooftique team; be safe, stay inside as we flatten the curve together.
