As 2022 draws to a close, we reflect not only on a year filled with change, ingenuity and
inspiration, but also on what these last 49 years of Klooftique have meant to us, as we get ready
to celebrate 50 years in the international interior design trade.

With timeless design and sustainability forming part of our core ethos, we’re taking a look at
Klooftique design through the ages;

Starting with 1973: The year Klooftique first opened its doors.

Some of the many design trends that were prominent during the 1970s still feature in many of
our designs today.

The most popular one being the use of velvet fabrics and velvet-like textures.

While many clients are still quick to shy away from velvets, the fabric design industry has come
a long way.

Modern velvet fabrics are mainly manufactured from synthetic fibers that are easy to clean and
specifically designed for high traffic areas.

Home Fabrics’ FibreGuard range offers an extensive range of durable, easy-to-clean velvet
fabrics in colours, textures and price brackets that suit just about any space.
