As one of many furniture stores in Cape Town, we have certainly felt the impact of this pandemic. Here’s an update on what is next for us. With some semblance of normality slowly creeping back in, we’re looking forward to getting back into our beautiful showroom. Our plans for an updated showroom have been in the works for a few weeks and now we are finally able to get back into our space so we can start finalising our mood board.
When speaking with friends (both personal and industry) a similar narrative has begun to take shape; being that this time apart has brought much-needed perspective to many. The need for excess and fast-trends is decreasing and we’re learning to appreciate the things that truly matter. We are seeing our range of pieces, crafted by seasoned hands, with reinvigorated pride and appreciation.
Even though we have only been permitted to reopen with one third of our staff, we remain optimistic that the times ahead, although challenging, will strengthen us as both a brand and a business.
We have decided to reopen our showroom to allow for minimum trade on selected days and for selected hours. This will allow us to distribute and sell our Rise and Fall bed linen range and to meet with our clients in a safe and controlled environment.
Our staff have been briefed on the strictest of safety protocols and masks will be required for all our clients to permit entry.
Our factory is hard at work to get all our existing orders out and we are open for new orders, which carry our standard lead time of 6-8 weeks, as our suppliers are slowly beginning to reopen.

It’s Recipe Time
For this week’s recipe, we will be featuring a humble favourite: Crostata with Peach Jam. This is a very simple recipe, easily prepared.
Crostata with Peach Jam (makes a 28cm tart)
350g Plain all-purpose flour/Gluten Free flour
2 Eggs, lightly beaten
½ Teaspoon baking powder
400g Peach Jam (or jam of your choice)
1 Egg yolk, whisked, for glazing
Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C.
Mix the butter, flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and a pinch of salt together in a large mixing bowl. Knead the resulting dough into a tight ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes.
Break off one third of the pastry and place it aside. Roll out the other two thirds of dough into a circle, approximately 34cm in diameter on baking paper. Use this dough to go up and over the round baking tin. Using the baking paper as a tray, position it over the tin and then flip it so the pastry lines the tin tray. Peel away the baking paper. Press the pastry gently into place in the tray. Be sure to prick the base pastry with a fork here and there.
Spread the jam in evenly, so it covers the pastry nicely and turn the sides of the pastry down onto the jam to neaten.
Roll the remaining dough out into a flat sheet and cut approximately 18 strips of dough. These can then be arranged in a criss-cross pattern and trimming away the loose ends.
Using a small brush, brush the egg yolk over the pastry.
Bake for 25 – 30 minutes or until the pastry golden and the bottom crisp. Cool before slicing.
